Shipping Policy

The Table Company ships anywhere within the contiguous 48 states.  Shipping charges will vary from time to time, depending on market conditions and customer promotions.  ‘Special-order items', found within our Limited Editions & Slabs collection, are not considered standard order items and are subject to higher shipping fees, depending on numerous factors including size, weight, and location of delivery.  With the exception of Limited Editions and Slabs, there is no additional charge for the return shipping on items that fall within our generous return policy – we pay the freight.

The Table Company is committed to quality and craftsmanship.  Before each table is cleared to be carefully packed for transit, it goes through various quality control inspections that are overseen by our founders.  When a table has cleared all requirements, it is then carefully placed in a 100% cotton bag, wrapped in a protective plastic sheet, and packaged in a custom Table Company box and/or transportable crate system – to make for successful transit.

Once you receive your order and it has been unwrapped, please inspect your furniture.  Damages to our products while in transit are rare but can occur.  Upon your order’s arrival, we ask that you keep the original packaging and inspect all items while documenting any damage on the provided delivery paperwork.  If you refuse your delivery due to damage, the order will be sent back to our team where it will be reviewed so that we can determine how to best resolve the issue.  Please contact Client Services immediately.

Return Policy

30-Day Return

If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, for any reason, you may return or exchange your item within 30-days from the date of delivery – there is no additional charge for return shipping.  Returns must be in original condition and packaging.  If a returned table is damaged or misused, we reserve the right to charge you for repairs, plus a 25% restocking fee.

The Table Company does not accept returns on custom dining slabs, which we refer to as ‘special-order items', found within our Limited Editions & Slabs collection.  Please note that out-of-stock options offered and selected throughout other collections are not considered 'special-order items' and therefore fall within our return policy.

There are several ways to activate a return.  If you have already established an account on our website, you can execute the entire return process online.  If you purchased your table as a “guest” and do not have a Table Company account, please call or email us to start your return.  Even if you have an account, we will contact you to confirm the pick-up and return details.  It is important that you provide us with a way to contact you.

Items purchased on special promotions may be restricted to returns and exchanges only for damaged or wrongly shipped merchandise.

Special Orders

Special orders begin production upon order placement and are built to your specifications.  As a result, the item (s) cannot be canceled, changed, returned or refunded at any time.  a non-refundable 50% deposit will be charged when you place the order.

Return Inspection

Upon return, your item will be inspected, and exchanges, credits, or refunds will be issued as fit.  The Table Company reserves the right to refuse returns of items that are not in ‘as-new condition due to damage or misuse by the client.  If we accept the return of an item that is damaged due to your misuse, we reserve the right to deduct the cost of repairs and a 25% restocking and shipping charge.

All genuine organic products have unique characteristics, such as grain, color variations, and other natural and desirable distinctions.  We believe these unique features are normal and should be expected.  Cracking and other environmental compromises, however, are not expected.

If a dining slab, ‘special-order item’, from the Limited Editions & Slabs collection is returned, you may be responsible for the returned shipping costs.  Dining size slabs are not easy to move and we reserve the right to charge you for the shipping and handling expenses.  Generally, all ‘special-order item’ sales are final.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations on customized orders may result in the forfeiture of your deposit, depending on whether the special order has already been built.

Order Change Policy

If your order has not yet shipped, you can make changes to an existing "non-custom" order. Please note that certain changes to an existing order may delay the shipment of your order – delivery subject to availability.

Limited Warranty

The Table Company wants you to be happy with your purchase, and we want to stand behind our products.  The Table Company’s limited warranty protects against defects in materials or workmanship for one year from the date of purchase.  If there is any defect in materials or craftsmanship we want to know.  If we mutually conclude that the damage is due to a product defect during the first 12 months from the date of delivery we will, on a best-efforts basis, attempt to resolve the problem and make things right.  At the same time, we do not want you to interpret this as an unconditional product warranty, it is not.

For example, if your table is misused and becomes a dance floor at your next party, or if your dog eats the leg, or if you use it as a cutting board for your next turkey, our warranty will not be in effect.  This also goes for proper care; you cannot clean your table with toxic chemicals or abrasives.  However, if your table splits, warps, sags, or otherwise shows significant movement in the wood, we will want to fix this problem – including the possibility that we will simply replace your purchase, without charge.  We are big enough that we need to have a realistic policy but small enough to work with you to address your concerns.  We are not just retailing various products; we actually build what we sell.

Product Handling & Safety

Furniture Care

Our by-hand 12-step finishing process includes a final, clear protective sealer.  The sealing agent is designed to protect the table from spills, stains, warping, or twisting.  Clean your table with a soft cloth or damp sponge – dish soap is okay, but nothing abrasive or toxic – and please do not use chemicals, solvents, or oils.  The finish is designed to repel moisture, but please clean spills quickly.  Of course, the finish will not protect against abrasives or the heat of a cooking pan – please do not place hot items directly onto the wood surface.  If your table is damaged, for any reason, please let us know.  We will do what we can to help you favorably resolve the problem.

Client Service & Communication

e-Commerce does not mean poor service . . . we believe The Table Company can deliver high-quality service without you having to come to us.  It will begin with your online purchase, which is generally followed by an email and/or telephone call to confirm your order.  Along the way, if your table is being custom-built, we will update you on our progress and estimated delivery timing.  We are pleased to answer any questions you may have, just call or email.  If you have a special request or want to return your order, for whatever reason, we will do our best to make it easy.  That is our commitment.

Need to Know

The Table Company makes only 100% solid, hardwood furniture.  We primarily use Thai/Burmese Teak, Eastern European Oak, and old-growth Cham-Cha (Siam Acacia).  Unlike many mass-market manufacturers and retailers, our furniture is made only from the hardwoods we feature; we never use plywood, veneer, MDF, synthetics, or inexpensive fast-growing softwoods.  The term “solid wood”, frequently used by our competitors, does not guarantee 100% hardwood – plywood and pressed board is considered “solid wood”, as that term is increasingly used.  Do not confuse “solid wood” with the 100% solid hardwood used by TableCo and other honest, high-end furniture makers.

Wood preparation is very important, all of our wood is kiln-dried to international furniture specifications.  As an organic product with naturally occurring irregularities such as color, grain patterns, and knots, solid wood will respond to changes in environmental conditions such as humidity and direct sunlight.  Until your table acclimates to your environment, which can take 12 months (all four seasons), your table may experience modest shrinkage or expansion that you will probably never notice.  Very thick slabs will require several years to fully acclimate – but are generally very stable due to their size.

Because our tables are handmade, using only 100% natural hardwoods, the exact final size, and thickness of each table will differ.  Lengths and widths will generally vary by less than 1” from the stated description.  Thickness can vary by approximately ¼ inch depending on the wood and how it is being finished.

Our Live Edge tables are a true cut from the trunk with the natural live edge.  A direct expression of nature will cause a natural variance in the dimension that will be unique to each table.  In the case of Live Edge tables, the size is approximate and may vary the width of the table up to 5% in either direction.

Your table will have unique traits, such as grain, color variations, and other natural desirable distinctions that are truly part of the charm.  The different surface textures we offer such as distressed and sandblasted, only more so compliment these characteristics.  If you are not happy, however, we promise to work with you to resolve any issue you may have.
